Just to put a temporary stop to the endless rumor-mongering, I'll just state flatly: No, President Bush has not officially asked me to be Justice O'Connor's replacement. But let's just say that I've been promised that my loyal readers would be the first to know when that happened. So keep a close eye here, and I'll tell you when to pop the champagne.
P.S. And to quash the other big rumor floating around: No, I gave no avowal as to not revisiting Bush v Gore, and yes, I'm very big into retroactive rulings; though I might be keeping a bit mum on all that until after the confirmation hearings. So sit tight, and wait for something big.
